Wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Went Perfectly Under Way

At long last, it happened. It’s done. As usual, the House of Windsor didn’t disappoint.

So, who won the lottery on who gets to dress the royal bride? With drum roll and all, it was the French fashion House of Givenchy who in recent times got known for rock-edge fashion. The fashion house first catapulted to universal awareness when it dressed Audrey Hepburn in that little black dress in the movie, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Meghan’s dress was by Clare Waight Keller who, only last year, became the first female Artistic Director of the fashion house. Though the dress somehow looks like the one Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore, with the bandeau neckline and almost pristine look without embellishments, I find the cloth a little heavy. It flops down when they took the stairs of St. George’s Chapel.

Meghan also wore Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, made in 1932 with a center brooch dating as far back as 1893, on loan from Queen Elizabeth II.

The best part of the wedding was when Meghan got escorted down the aisle by Prince Charles. The future King of England took over what could’ve been a major hiccup in his youngest son’s wedding.

What’s fascinating is the major absence of world leaders and who’s who in royalty. It was clearly a celebration of love by two people with their closest friends and immediate family members.

Oprah Winfrey, the Beckhams, Elton John, George Clooney and his wife and the cast of Suits were there representing the world where Meghan came from, Hollywood.

Likewise, Harry’s exes were there as well.

Lawyer Chelsy Davy, 32, was Harry’s first major relationship. They dated on and off for several years. She was also a guest at Prince William’s wedding. The gorgeous blond was in a monochromatic navy ensemble with a cape-like cardigan top and feathered fascinator.

Actor and model Cressida Bonas, was also Harry’s ex. She turned up in a pink-and-green striped dress from British designer EPONINE London with a feathered fascinator.

What’s surprisingly touching is, after getting snubbed from Prince William and Catherine's wedding in 2011, Sarah, the Duchess of York, got invited. She was formerly married to Prince Andrew and one of Princess Diana’s friends within the family.

The Queen, escorted by Prince Philip, was in a silk dress in lime, lemon, purple and grey by designer Stuart Parvin and a matching Angela Kelly hat.

Prince Harry and Prince William, his best man, both wore the formal frock coats from the Blues and Royals military regiment.

Harry will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Ms. Markle will be Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.
