Royal Garden Party? Here are Etiquette-Friendly Ideas for Outfits

It’s the first garden party of the year and Queen Elizabeth was with her sons Princes Andrew and Edward and his wife, Sophie Wessex to welcome hundreds of members of the public for recognition of their service.

The humble umbrella, or brolly, was the star fashion accessory of the day that all three royals, with the exception of Countess Sophie, carried.

The 92-year-old monarch was in a mint green coat and hat. She also had a pair of sunglasses and carried an umbrella in the same mint green shade.
Obviously taking the place of the queen’s husband, Prince Philip, their second born son Prince Andrew looked dapper in a coat and tails complete with a formal top hat.
His brother Prince Edward, noted for having the only one to keep his marriage among the queen’s children, opted for a near identical outfit save for the colour of the waistcoat.
The Queen's daughter in-law Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, a former business woman and now one of the best dressed and beloved women in the House of Windsor, shone in a coral coloured dress paired with straw accessories in the form of a wide-brimmed hat and clutch.
This garden party is the first of the three garden parties over the summer at Buckingham Palace. Three hundred thousand people will get recognition while they consume tea, sandwiches and cake, and rub elbows with royalty.
