Her fashion sense is not that of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, the Duchess of Cambridge or even that of Queen Letizia of Spain, but Queen Maxima of the Netherlands can wear yellow like no one else.
With her skin color and blond hair, she has the edge over many fashionable royal women. She’s the only one who loves to wear and gets away with yellow. Couple that with her ability to dress up like no one else and you have a queen not looking like any other. She is truly a gem in the Netherland’s crown.
Queen Maxima, on her second day in India, put on a colourful display in a multi-coloured silk dress as she arrived at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
She got an enormous bouquet of roses before local women placed a red dot, called a bindi, on her forehead. |
The placing of the red dot made from vermillion between the eyes is part of the traditional Indian welcome to guests and is a 'third eye' in the Hindu religion, to ward off bad luck.
Earlier, she made a bold but happy statement in a canary yellow.
The Queen of the Netherlands stepped out in a bright silk wrap around skirt and tan-colored top as she visited the Cricket Factory in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. |
A stickler for coordination, Maxima, 47, accessorized with a pair of oversized earrings and peep-toe sandals.
She joined staff at the factory and saw how they manufactured cricket balls and bats in a traditional fashion.
The wife of King Willem-Alexander got presented a bat and ball to take away and the delighted monarch posed with her gifts.
The Argentinian-born royal spent time speaking to the women crafting traditional cricket balls.
Following her tour of the factory, the monarch didn’t forget the public who lined the streets.
