Queens Can Get Away With Leather Leggings

One of the dangers of royal women leveling with common people is they don’t do enough justice to dress up as members of the monarchy they’re representing. They either look too dowdy for the masses or they look too dowdy to get considered royalty.

Say hello to Queen Letizia. She never is afraid of wearing, of all things, leather pants or leather leggings. Dare to imagine Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle do that.

What’s even more fascinating is this very fashionable royal is already 45 years old.

For the opening of the International Seminar on Language and Journalism in San Millan de la Cogolla on May 29, the former journalist stepped out in leather leggings from Uterque, pink printed coat from Astos Lombardini and Carolina Herrera black pumps. She could look like an off-duty-model but her coat and other polished extras like the patent stilettos and coordinating leather pouch is a sign that she’s more than a celebrity.

This isn’t the first time the monarch dressed up like this. She looked equally chic in April when she paired her leather leggings with a crisp white Massimo Dutti sleeveless blazer and black mules.

Adding some edge to her sophisticated style using leather is one of Letizia’s trademarks. In February 2016, she opted for a trendy zip-front cropped culotte by the same brand while on official business in Madrid. She completed that look with a tailored Hugo Boss button-down, pink Carolina Herrera coat and Magrit lace-up sandals.
