That’s Your Majesty in Her Most Natural at an Equestrian Event

Want to see the Queen of England in her most natural? Check out the yearly Royal Windsor Horse Show and you’ll see one of the most powerful women looking like a beloved grandmother whose visits we always look forward to. However, a royal is a royal, is a royal and this equestrian event happens right in her backyard in the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

(Note that Prince Harry’s wedding will take place just a stone’s throw away next weekend.)

She had been going to this yearly event since 1943. This year, with her husband 96-year-old Prince Philip recovering from a hip operation, she was alone in her private box.

Last year, the Windsors were out in force. Prince Edward and his wife Sophie as well as grandson Peter Philips, Canadian great-daughter-in-law Autumn and their two children were with the monarch.

So, what does a monarch wear during such off-duty events? In a homely powder blue cardigan, white blouse, tweed skirt (one of her favorite pieces of off-duty clothing when she’s out and about), and with the only type of handbag she carries, her patent Launer bag, she was just like any horse lover. However, if you see her pearl earrings and double strand of pearls plus a square leather watch to match, and if by weird chances you don’t know her, you’ll think twice. It’s because that’s the traditional way of dressing of titled women during such events.

The Queen is known to be a little impatient when it comes to trying something new especially for anything trivial like fashion. However, her accessories, were a little different. Usual pictures of Queen Elizabeth would show her with her staple pearl earrings wherein there’s a diamond attached. Likewise, she would always have her triple strand of pearl necklace no matter how high her neckline is.

During the event, she got helped into a gilet when it got cloudy and a little chilly. The gilet is surely from her beloved royal dressmaker Angela Kelly. This completed her outfit for the day.
