Taking a Look Back at Three of the Most Beautiful Royal Wedding Dresses for Meghan's Inspiration

So Meghan Markle’s wedding is on May 19.

From Hollywood all the way to Buckingham Palace, that wedding is going to get as much audience it could. Sure, her future husband Prince Harry will never be king and thus this may make many to just forgo watching the occasion, but Meghan is going to become a daughter-in-law of one of the world’s beloved princess, Princess Diana. What’s more, she’s one of the highest profile mixed race American to wed into British royalty. And it’s a British royal wedding. Even Hollywood cannot do a better job replicating any of it .

So, what is Meghan going to wear? We’re pretty sure she spent many countless sleepless nights over this. After all, she has to live up and pay homage to Hollywood by looking like a screen goddess yet uphold the protocol and tradition not only of a family, but of a whole country, that she would become officially a part of.

Well, there’s no use speculating who she’d be wearing. We’re sure we won’t get disappointed.

If you’re going to get married soon and wants some royal inspiration, here are some great ones.

Kate Middleton (now Duchess of Cambridge) April 29, 2011

Royal tradition and protocol dictates that she cover her shoulders. In her wedding, the future Queen Consort of England has a sweetheart neckline. This neckline is perfect for angular faced women, those with small breasts and narrow shoulders.

Crown Princess of Norway Princess Mette-Marit of Norway (August 25, 2001)

Her wedding dress was both modern and elegant. But they always say that with royal wedding gowns. This time, I dig it!

The gentle scoop neck and long, fitted sleeves melt into a waisted bodice that leads to a slightly flared skirt with a train of just over six and a half feet.

The gentle scooped neckline can get worn by almost every silhouette because it showcases the collarbone elongating a short or thick neck. Depending on its cut, different body types have different width of scoops that go well with them

A wide or large scooped neckline, like that of the Crown Princess, flatter women with narrow shoulders. It also looks better on those with smaller chests or women with athletic body types.

Viscountess Linley (October 8, 1993)

Serena Stanhope (now known as Viscountess Linley) married Viscount Linley in 1993. Her gown has a tulle skirt and was of a two-piece design.

This royal wedding dress broke the bad rep of tulle wedding dresses. Bridal designers started refreshing this classic fabric to feel modern and ethereal at the same time.
