Just when we thought the Duchess of Cambridge did a major recycling in Meghan’s wedding, we’re all wrong. Everyone thought that dress had seen a lot of events: from Princess Charlotte's christening in 2015, Trooping the Colour in 2016 and during a visit to Belgium in July 2017.
During Meghan’s wedding, Kate teamed the dress with a hat by Philip Treacy and accessorized it with a box clutch.
The dress looks the same because the primrose yellow coat dress, finishing at the knee, was also from Alexander McQueen.
However, when all pictures from the wedding got scrutinized, it appeared Kate wasn't recycling her outfit. The dress has subtle differences.
First, Kate's wedding outfit was yellow and has four buttons on the cuffs. It looks white or cream in some of the photos, but compared to Princess Charlotte's ivory bridesmaid dress and the white dress Kate wore underneath her coat, it’s yellow. Meanwhile, the dress she wore to Charlotte's christening and to Trooping the Colour, was cream and doesn't have buttons.
The Duchess, 36, knows her limitations when it comes to time constraints in choosing outfits because of her kids and public duties, and thus chooses clothes of the same style in different colors.
The Duchess has the same Preen red and black dress with an asymmetrical neckline and an identical Emilia Wickstead pleated dress in blue and pink. She also owns two of the same coats by Catherine Walker: one in red and one in cornflower blue and two of the same coats by Emilia Wickstead: one in blue and one in green.

Kate's coat dress is surely yellow because it contrasts with her white dress underneath. |
