Surprising Scene: Dutch Royal In-Laws Get Along to Give Award

Not that they don’t get along. But presenting a front is hard to come by these days and it’s nice to see powerful women, in-laws at that, together for a prize giving ceremony at Noordeinde Palace on June 6. The two women were at the 'Appeltjes van Oranje' (Apples of Orange) awards to Dutch social initiatives who help connect people from different backgrounds and cultures.

Three winners got chosen from 12 nominees.

Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix presented the 'Appeltjes van Oranje' (Apple of Orange) awards to Dutch social initiatives wherein winners received €15,000 and a bronze statue

This award is normally presented by King Willem, however, despite the king being present, Queen Maxima took his place.

Without time to change after the award ceremony, Maxima made her way to a conference on homeless youth by Stichting Zwerfjongeren Nederland (SZN) and Kansfonds.
