Queen Rania’s Chic Kaftan

With Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco gone from the world’s awareness due her rumored divorce from the King of Morocco and with Sheikha Mozah of Qatar having a low profile, the royal way of dressing with a kaftan now rests on Queen Rania of Jordan.

A kaftan is a variant of the robe and tunic. It’s worn by several cultures for thousands of years. The kaftan usually reaches the ankles and typically has long sleeves.

Just this weekend, the Queen of Jordan wore one from a local Jordanian fashion label called Kumbaz when she and King Abdullah visited families in Ghor Fiefa. The royals got shown development initiatives implemented by civil society organizations in the area and visited the local kindergarten to meet 42 pupils.

Her Majesty looked chic as ever in a black dress that features hand-embroidery in multi-colors.

Queen Rania stands out as a modern Arab queen both in her work and in the way she blends Arab sensibility in dressing while giving it a modern twist.
