Lovely Queen in Lilac for a Polished but Down-to-Earth Look at the Epsom Races

The Queen, famous for her passion about racing, was at the Epsom Races on June 2. She was in a a lilac outfit of an overcoat with a shift floral dress underneath and matching broad-brimmed floral hat. Purple is one of her favourite colors and she oftentimes wear this on summer.

Her Majesty also wore her favourite black Anello & Davide buckle loafers, an amethyst brooch and white gloves - accessorizing with a multi-strand pearl necklace, earrings and black patent handbag. Because it was sunny, she donned on a pair of sunglasses with orange-tinted lenses. In a nod to the notoriously changeable English weather, she also carried a transparent umbrella.

Her Majesty is the only royal to attend Epsom this year. She is all smiles as she chat to revelers in the sunshine. Why wouldn’t she? She is celebrating 65 years since her coronation.

Taking to Instagram the royal family wrote: “Today marks the 65th Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. On 2nd June 1953, Her Majesty became the 39th Sovereign to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, where every Coronation since 1066 has taken place.”
